BUT A POSH SOUNDING TITLE
Architectus Emeritus
As you might know, or not know, it is illegal in the UK to use the professional title 'ARCHITECT' unless you are a fully paid up professional subscriber, a practicing architect, with all the badges and scrolls that you have to accumulate.
You don't even have to do anything related to the profession as long as you are fully paid up!
But you cannot simply use the title ARCHITECT RETIRED once you give up the meaningless, or problematic business of being one. I put all this minly down to class (upper), arrogance, greed and snobbery. It has little to do with the requirements of actual competance, or integrity, of which I can provide some evidence. With significant exceptions of course.
But the law in other counries is different, or varies.
Anyway the UK law does allow some geriatric form of former professional architects - such as my self - the honorary title of 'ARCHITECT EMERITIS'. As does the Italian Architects Mob, of which I was once a member; they, adding the title of 'DOTTORE'.
It is much just a piece of bullshit that makes me feel appreciated here alone sipping single malt by the fireside.
Me, Bachelor of Architecture and Planning, BArch (Melb) - from the University of Melbourne. Registered Architect from the last century!
Architectus Eram !!
Architectus Emeritus Sum !!
